The Southlake City Council is moving forward with plans to renovate the Town Hall Plaza Park, a central feature of Southlake Town Square. At the March 4 meeting, Community Services Director David Miller presented updated designs incorporating feedback from the December 3, 2024, session.

The proposed renovation aims to enhance the park’s functionality and aesthetic appeal. A key aspect under consideration is the future of Fountain Place, the road separating the park from the gazebo and fountain. Options include keeping the road open, fully closing it, or implementing a hybrid model with removable bollards to control traffic flow. A traffic study revealed that Fountain Place accommodates approximately 33 cars per hour on a typical mid-week day and provides 16 parking spots.

The renovation is part of a broader initiative to revitalize Southlake Town Square, a vibrant open-air lifestyle shopping district featuring over 120 shops and numerous dining options.

The city has allocated $527,000 for the park in the fiscal year 2024-25 capital improvement program, with more than $14 million budgeted for fiscal year 2025-26.

TSK Architects, in partnership with Kimley-Horn, has been selected to lead the redesign efforts. The project will focus on upgrading seating and enhancing walkability, including an expansive event lawn connecting Town Hall to a newly designed gazebo. These improvements aim to enrich the community’s experience in one of Southlake’s most cherished spaces.

The council’s feedback will guide the final design, with the goal of creating a more cohesive and pedestrian-friendly environment in the heart of Southlake. The community eagerly anticipates the transformation of Town Hall Plaza Park into a more inviting and functional space for residents and visitors alike.
