On May 20, 2025, the Frisco City Council approved a $1.29 million design contract for a new Parks and Recreation administration building and nature center. The total budget for the design and construction of the project is $16 million. The design contract was awarded to PBK Architects, selected from among 13 firms considered for the project.
Currently, the Parks and Recreation staff operate out of the George A. Purefoy Municipal Center. The new facility will provide dedicated space for administrative functions and will include areas for educational programs and a small collection of animals. This development is part of the 2019 bond proposition E, approved by Frisco voters, which allocated funds for the construction of a nature and educational center to support the Parks and Recreation Department.
This initiative reflects Frisco’s commitment to enhancing community services and providing educational opportunities related to nature and the environment.
