On March 19, 2025, the Texas Senate approved a series of priority bills aimed at enhancing the state’s infrastructure and addressing pressing issues.

Senate Bill 6: Enhancing Electric Grid Reliability

In response to increasing electricity demand, Senate Bill 6 seeks to fortify Texas’ power grid and improve protections for residential consumers during emergencies. The bill proposes measures to bolster the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT)’s load forecasting transparency, enhance outage protections for residential consumers, adjust transmission cost allocations, and improve overall grid reliability.

Senate Bill 15: Promoting Housing Affordability

To address housing affordability, Senate Bill 15 aims to reduce the minimum lot size requirements for single-family homes in new subdivisions. By allowing smaller homes on smaller lots, the legislation seeks to increase housing stock and provide more affordable options for Texans.

Additional Legislative Actions

The Senate also passed bills targeting other critical areas, including banning all forms of THC and promoting healthy eating habits through educational initiatives.

These legislative efforts reflect Texas’ commitment to strengthening its infrastructure and improving the quality of life for its residents.
