Flower Mound, Texas – On May 3, residents of Flower Mound will vote on a proposed $112 million bond package aimed at enhancing the town’s parks, trails, recreational facilities, and infrastructure. This marks the town’s first bond election in over two decades.

The bond package allocates $82 million for parks and recreation projects, including expansions to the Community Activity Center and improvements to Leonard & Helen Johns Community Park, Prairie Trail Park, and Twin Coves Park. Additionally, $14.5 million is designated for trail enhancements along Flower Mound Road. An extra $1 million is earmarked for west side projects, such as a 24-hour library kiosk and connectors to the Canyon Falls trailhead.

The remaining $30 million is proposed for road repairs and maintenance, focusing on streets constructed in the 1980s that now require significant attention. Mayor Cheryl Moore emphasized the necessity of these improvements, stating, “We have an aging infrastructure so we need to find a way to fund some amenities that we want to do and some repairs we want to do in an aging community.”

The bond proposal is the result of extensive work by the Blue Ribbon Bond Committee, which convened from August to December of the previous year. The committee engaged in public consultations and evaluated multiple funding scenarios before recommending the current package.

Early voting begins on April 22, with the final decision to be made on May 3. Residents are encouraged to participate and have their say in shaping the future of Flower Mound’s community amenities and infrastructure.
