Argyle Independent School District (AISD) is making significant strides in its infrastructure expansion, with the new high school stadium and indoor activity center on track for completion by November 2025. These developments are part of the district’s 2022 bond package aimed at accommodating the area’s growing student population.
At the April 22 board meeting, Construction Manager Jeff Koehn reported that the steel frame for the home side press box has been erected, and masonry work is underway. The concrete columns for the home stands are nearing completion, and the stadium’s 120-foot light poles have been installed. Additionally, grade beams have been poured for the indoor activity center, and crews have begun masonry work on the south end home side concession stand. The remaining portion of the visitor side parking lot is also set to be poured soon.
Once completed, the stadium will seat 7,500 spectators and will be located behind the Argyle High School field house, utilizing the existing artificial turf field and track. The indoor activity center will serve multiple teams and student groups, featuring a small dressing area with showers, storage, restrooms, and will also function as the visitor locker room.
In parallel, construction on the new middle school along FM 407 is progressing, with masonry work initiated on its two gymnasiums—one of which will double as a storm shelter. Grade beams are being poured in the classroom wing, and the concrete slab for the fine arts and band area has been completed. Crews are also laying turf for the field and preparing the foundation for the campus’s tennis courts.
These projects are integral to AISD’s 10-year strategic plan, which includes splitting into two high schools and two middle schools to better manage enrollment growth. The new middle school is scheduled to open in August 2026, serving grades 7-8 with a capacity of 1,200 students. The existing middle school on US 377 will be repurposed back into a high school starting in 2027, gradually adding high school grades each year until it becomes a dedicated high school by 2029.
The visitor stands for the new stadium are expected to arrive in early May, with the home side stands following in early summer. Steel erection on the middle school site is set to begin within the next week, followed by roof installations on the two gyms.
These developments underscore AISD’s commitment to providing state-of-the-art facilities to support the district’s educational and extracurricular programs.
