Residents of Flower Mound and Highland Village can anticipate significant improvements to their local roadways, as a comprehensive $26 million roadwork project is set to commence in mid-2025. This initiative aims to upgrade key regional connector streets, thereby enhancing traffic flow and overall transportation infrastructure within the communities.
The planned enhancements will focus on vital thoroughfares, including Flower Mound’s Lakeside Parkway and Highland Shores Boulevard in Highland Village. These roads are crucial for daily commutes and regional connectivity, and their improvement is expected to benefit a majority of local drivers.
Highland Village City Manager Paul Stevens emphasized the project’s significance, stating, “It affects the vast majority of people in the community. Most people drive, or they’re a passenger, and when a road is bad, they see it.
The project encompasses various upgrades, such as roadway resurfacing and intersection enhancements, aimed at improving safety and reducing congestion. Construction is anticipated to begin in mid-2025, with completion expected within eight to twelve months.
Funding for these transportation projects will primarily come from county sources, reflecting a collaborative effort between local and county officials to address infrastructure needs.
