Major Repairs Scheduled for McDermott Road in Plano

Plano, TX – A significant infrastructure project is set to commence on McDermott Road, aiming to enhance the roadway’s safety and accessibility. The Plano City Council has unanimously approved a $765,558 contract with V.A. Construction, Inc. to undertake various repairs along a two-mile stretch between Preston Road and Coit Road.

The scope of the project includes:

Repairing approximately 2,000 square yards of arterial concrete
Restoring 11,000 square feet of sidewalk
Upgrading 48 barrier-free ramps to meet current accessibility standards

Construction is anticipated to be completed by late September 2026, as per the city’s Community Investment Program update on April 10.

While the Public Works department typically manages such projects, this initiative underscores the city’s commitment to maintaining and improving its infrastructure to meet the growing needs of its residents.

Residents and commuters are advised to stay informed about potential lane closures and construction updates to plan their routes accordingly.
