Celina officials are considering an expansion of the Uptown master-planned community with a new neighborhood called Glen at Uptown, designed to add about 125 single-family homes and 41 acres of new land to the city’s extraterritorial jurisdiction.

🏘️ What’s Happening?

  • City council postponed the proposal on June 10 because negotiations weren’t finalized, and the decision will now return at their July 8 meeting .
  • Rockhill Capital and Investment, the developer behind the project, first announced plans for the neighborhood in January .

🌱 Uptown Master Plan Growing

  • Uptown already includes several new neighborhoods:
    • The Ranch at Uptown (just opened as of early June, over 1,000 homes)
    • The Heights at Uptown (232 homes planned)
  • The Glen at Uptown would build on this momentum, offering a mix of housing options and supporting community growth.

📅 What’s Next?

  • City leaders and the developer will revisit the development agreement at the July 8 council meeting.
  • If approved, Glen at Uptown would boost Celina’s housing supply and expand municipal limits, furthering the city’s rapid growth trajectory.

Why It Matters to Celina

Celina is experiencing swift population and infrastructure growth recognized as one of the fastest-growing cities in the DFW metro area. Adding 125 homes would not only diversify housing but also support local schools, parks, and road networks.
