The City of Celina is advancing its plans for the expansive Wilson Creek Park by allocating $10 million from sales tax revenues to fund key features and improvements. This decision was unanimously approved by the City Council on April 8, 2025, marking a significant step in the park’s development.

Wilson Creek Park, envisioned as a 100-acre recreational haven, will be situated at the intersection of the future Sunset Boulevard and Roseland Parkway. The park’s master plan, adopted in July 2023, was shaped through extensive community engagement, including surveys and public meetings that gathered over 1,000 responses.

The allocated funds will cover various aspects of the park’s development, including design, equipment, and infrastructure enhancements. Planned amenities encompass lighted sports fields, pickleball courts, playgrounds, trails, a pond, and a nine-hole disc golf course.

Construction of Wilson Creek Park is set to commence in January 2025, with the first phase expected to be completed by fall 2026. The total projected cost for the park stands at approximately $50.75 million, with the initial phase estimated at $30 million.

This investment reflects Celina’s commitment to enhancing community spaces and accommodating its rapidly growing population. The park aims to serve as a central hub for sports, recreation, and community events, aligning with the city’s vision of fostering connected and vibrant neighborhoods.
