Frisco officials are developing plans to enhance affordable housing options for low- to moderate-income residents. To secure funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the city must submit a comprehensive five-year housing and community development plan, along with a one-year action plan. These plans will outline proposed budgets and programs aimed at addressing housing needs in the community.
Historically, Frisco has utilized federal Community Development Block Grants and general funds to support initiatives such as homeowner rehabilitation, homelessness prevention, senior services, and fair housing education. The Social Services and Housing Board convened on April 9 to discuss these plans, which will eventually be presented to the Frisco City Council for approval.
These efforts align with Frisco’s broader objectives, as outlined in the recently approved 2040 Comprehensive Plan, which sets guidelines for the city’s future growth, including housing strategies.
As Frisco approaches full build-out, with approximately 75% of the city already developed or claimed, the demand for local housing continues to rise. The city’s proactive approach to affordable housing aims to ensure that all residents have access to suitable living options amid this growth.
