Plano City Council Approves $2 Million for High Point Park Restroom Renovation
In a move to enhance local park facilities, the Plano City Council has approved a $2 million contract to upgrade the restroom facilities at High Point Park. The decision was made during the council’s meeting on March 24, awarding the project to RoeschCo Construction.

The renovation involves replacing the park’s existing 40-year-old restroom with a modern facility that complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Additionally, the project includes the construction of a concrete pad for park equipment storage, accompanied by a screening structure to conceal the storage area. These improvements aim to enhance accessibility and functionality for park visitors.
Funding and Timeline
The project’s funding is allocated from the 2024-2025 Parks Improvement Capital Improvement Plan. Construction is anticipated to commence shortly and is expected to be completed within a 10-month timeframe.

High Point Park has been a significant part of the Plano community since its acquisition in 1977 and its designation as a community park in 1985. Over the years, the park has undergone various enhancements, including the recent replacement of outdated sports lighting. City officials have noted that the aging restroom facilities have led to increased maintenance costs and could potentially affect local leagues and tournaments if not addressed.
